And just recently, a report ensued from GitHub (the Microsoft-owned world’s largest open-source software development platform) that stated that Africa has the highest number of developers in the world.

Nigeria has a record of the third-faster growing developer community on Github, with more than 40% more repositories on the software engineering platform over the past year.

Now, that is quite something huge!

Tech hubs keep growing by the day across Africa, Nigeria is at the forefront of this development as the country with the highest number of tech hubs, closely followed by South Africa and Kenya.

There is a large talent pool, particularly Tech Talent in Africa; In November 2020, US-based payments giant, Stripe, announced its acquisition of five-year-old Nigerian payments start-up, Paystack. This trend will continue in the next decade as leading tech companies like Twitter, Google, Facebook have continuously recruited tech talent from Africa to join their software engineering teams. Senior technology talent (those with 5+ years of experience) have honed their skills and landed roles with some of these foreign companies.
